SAFETY NOTES: For safety reasons, roller-skates, in-line skates, bikes, and skateboards are discouraged on the AIDS Walk Los Angeles route. Think carefully about safety, control and heat before bringing pets to the event. Sunscreen and hats are highly recommended.

Snacks and beverages are available on the route, however if you wish to stay with your group, we recommend you bring your own bottle of water. Lines can be very long at the “rest stops” and by the time you’ve taken your drink, your team may be too far ahead to catch-up with.

You should snack 30 to 90 minutes before the walk, focusing on easily-digested carbohydrates. Suggestions include: a banana, fruit juice, a low-fat bagel or English muffin, or low-fat yogurt. More information on what to eat the night before the event, and what to eat after the event to help recover, are found here and here.

This Sunday, at the Church of the Epiphany at 2808 Altura Street, Los Angeles 90031 (map), starting at 2pm, the Restore Equality 2010 campaign to repeal Proposition 8 will be holding a townhall to select at least four delegates who will participate in the statewide communication and decision-making body for the 2010 signature gathering campaign.

Attendees will learn more about the organizational plan selected on August 29th, by a group of grassroots marriage equality advocates in San Francisco. Attendees will then have a chance to caucus and form local groups of organizers, before selecting candidates for the statewide council via election.

If you’re interested in participating in the 2010 campaign, and want to ensure that we don’t have a “No on 8″ repeat, then this is the place to participate! This body of organizers will be critical not only in the decision-making process, but also in the selection of the campaign’s executive committee.

Your attendance and vote (one vote per attendee!) can have a huge impact on who is elected. It’s important that you represent both yourself, and others in your area!

RSVP not required, but you can add your name on the Facebook page!
