On August 5, 2009, Equality Network, a nonprofit, grassroots organization, will host a major fundraising event in West Hollywood, California at Eleven Restaurant & Nightclub to support our organization’s efforts to repeal Proposition 8, which effectively prohibits gays and lesbians from marrying. The event will include a silent auction, beats by DJ Josh Peace and DJ Victor Rodriguez, and drag performances by leading local drag queens, including our emcee Heklina. To date, many major club promoters, drag queens, and DJs in our community have signed on to publicize and co-host this event. We hope that you (and/or organizations that you represent) can provide support for our event as well.
We need to raise $10,000 for grassroots community organizing activities by the end of summer. We need your help to defeat hate! We need your help to guarantee civil rights to all members of the LGBT community.
