Please join Equality Network and Restore Equality 2010 in the 25th annual AIDS Walk, this Sunday, October 18th!
If you want your FREE Restore Equality 2010 t-shirt, please REGISTER NOW for the walk! (Click “Join a Team” and then find “Restore Equality 2010 – 1550″ in the drop-down box at the bottom.)
Plan on being at the check-in table by 9:30am, to be safe. There is a lot of traffic in the area of the event, so please plan for plenty of travel time! We’re checking-in at the Restore Equality 2010 table, which is in the “Team Tables” area, south of the Abbey on Robertson Blvd (map).
ALL street parking restrictions are still in force, so please utilize the FREE parking at the following locations:
- Pacific Design Center parking structure; enter from Melrose Avenue. (map)
- The Beverly Connection parking structure; enter from La Cienega Blvd. (map)
- Cedars-Sinai Medical Towers parking structures; enter off 3rd Street, from Gracie Allen Way or George Burns Road. There will be a shuttle service available every 30 minutes before and after the AIDS Walk. (map)
The route is 10 kilometers / 6.2 miles. The route map is available via PDF.
SAFETY NOTES: For safety reasons, roller-skates, in-line skates, bikes, and skateboards are discouraged on the AIDS Walk Los Angeles route. Think carefully about safety, control and heat before bringing pets to the event. Sunscreen and hats are highly recommended.
Snacks and beverages are available on the route, however if you wish to stay with your group, we recommend you bring your own bottle of water. Lines can be very long at the “rest stops” and by the time you’ve taken your drink, your team may be too far ahead to catch-up with.
You should snack 30 to 90 minutes before the walk, focusing on easily-digested carbohydrates. Suggestions include: a banana, fruit juice, a low-fat bagel or English muffin, or low-fat yogurt. More information on what to eat the night before the event, and what to eat after the event to help recover, are found here and here.
