On Saturday, August 29th, organizations and individuals from around California will be meeting in San Francisco, at the San Francisco State University Conference Center (map), to complete a few goals in relation to the signature gathering campaign to repeal Proposition 8:
- Establish a Political Action Committee to develop a centralized fund-raising platform;
- Developing an interim leadership and organizational structure for a 2010 signature gathering effort;
- Continue to foster statewide communications and coalition building.
Everyone dedicated to working for marriage equality is invited to participate in the discussions and planning. The proposed decision-making method for this meeting will be to recognize one vote for each organization or local chapter of an organization.
Need a ride?
If you would like to attend, but cannot afford to travel to San Francisco on your own, please join Equality Network on the “Equality Bus”! We’ve rented a van and will drive up together on Friday afternoon, leaving at 5:00pm (SHARP!) from the Universal City Metro Station (map). There will also be carpools leaving from this location.
Did you know? You can get from the Norwalk area to our departure point at the Universal City Metro Station in Hollywood in just an hour an 15 minutes, for $3.75, on the Metro? Take a look! For more rail options, see the MTA map, and then use Google Maps to plan your route!
The van will return to Los Angeles after the event on Saturday, but likely will not arrive until after midnight. Depending on where you live, accommodations may be possible to get you close to your home. You can RSVP to both the meeting and for the van-ride using the forms below, and we will contact you to set up arrangements.
Have a car with extra seats?
Join us for the carpool to the event! Meet us in the parking lot of the Universal City Metro Station (map) at 4:45pm on Friday afternoon! (Be sure to e-mail us, so we know to expect you!)
